The Removalists
Visiting a storage centre in The Shire. It’s been a day of difficult physical labour for me as I spent a few hours helping Damo move some furniture into storage. For me, that meant getting up earlier than I normally would on a Sunday, driving with him to The Shire (which is where he’s moving to after China, as it’s closer to his relocated workplace), and helping him pack a storage unit with a combination of his possess and his tardy mom’s furniture. For him it was far more difficult, as he’d had t

De-tox, De-clutter, De-house, De-computer... Delightful.
Today is Day One of my De-Tox. I went to bed last night feeling like crap on account of a week of tardy nights, too much wine, too much chocolate, not enough exercise, a few too many extra kilos, too much stuff in my home and an eight year old who, despite fingers covered in blue ink refused to confess that she had gotten out of bed after lights-out and played with some leaky textas. I tell ya, the whole thing is killing me. I was supposed to look like Elle MacPherson by my birthday (June 25

Grinch-like and Hating It!
Grinch-like and Hating It! Author: Kate | Filed below: Christmas, Holidays Thursday Dec 4,2008 It’s December 4th already, yet if you visited our home you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s actually June or something. The tree isn’t up, there’s no advent calendars, no decorations, no wreath hanging on the door - in fact, there’s no sign of Christmas at every. Why, you ask? Because we’re not sure if we’re moving or not. Our lease expires December 10 and the landlords have offered us a renewal … w

what a day it was, it was what a day
We helped Daughter 2 move into her new apartment on Saturday. At times I felt like I was held captive by an alien species never before identified by man nor lady. I was instructed to wait at our home until the removalists came by and picked up every the items she wanted from our home. Once they left I was to text her and let her know that they were on their way to her old place to pick up the boxes there. I handled that okay, but then it was to be action stations and we were every to jump in

a series of short songs about small scenes
19 October 2008 Just before I left Sydney I was having coffee with J, and I said, I felt like my life right now could be a series of short spoken songs. tiny scenes that have a certain musicality about them, but no tune. Here they are. More because I need to start writing again than because they will be of particular interest for anyone. :: a short tune about Glebe Point Road on a July afternoon I have a new haircut and the flu. As I walked up here a passing lady said, of my scarf and dr

All’s Well that Ends Well…
We’re finally settled in. (Thank you so much to everyone who sent encouraging emails and so forth) So much has happened, so I’ll just start back blogging by giving you a summary of what we’ve been up to since the 21st October, when I unplugged and went offline. The removalists came and went almost three weeks ago, leaving a stack of boxes in the garage with half of their labels facing inwards or upside-down. Finding a clean towel has never been such fun! ~Not. WonderHubby drilled nicely-sp

Vertical to horizontal mattress
I have arrived in Elective City. Hooray!!And I managed to more or less pack up my home and move out. And I am still not sure where I will be living next year, except that it will be somewhere round Rurality and surrounding countryside.Things not to do while I am packing:Offer constructive criticism such as "oh my goodness, whatamess. How will you ever receive this disaster into boxes?" Not helpful, though I am sure you meant it in the nicest possible way.Say "wow, you have a lot of stuff". I have b

Where does time fly? (photo heavy)
Here we are - Christmas is past and the New Year is almost upon us … blimey, how did that happen?!!! I spent a wonderful few days with Brenda and Nigel over in the northwest suburbs of Sydney for Christmas. As usual Nigel did an exceptional job of Christmas dinner and we dined on turkey breast, baked ham, new potatoes, fresh beans and peas, followed by Nigel’s famous pavlova (the best I’ve ever eaten, and that’s saying something as I’ve tried many; it was always my fave dessert growing up). Moving a Queen Size Bed
Alan and Jean are moving back to Hong Kong after college, and their bed will be temporarily stored at our place. Even though they live around 200 metres up the road, moving a queen size bed from a 4th floor apartment to my place across the road can still pose a challenge. Should we receive removalists? Not with my 1999 Nissan Pulsar though. Thanks to Jason who came to help (and make sure the mattress does not fall out on the other side when I am cornering).

A4U Expo - Another Ripping Affiliate Shindig
Well guys and gals, I’m sat here in my jim jams absolutely knackered. Another great conference from Matt and team has convinced both Duncan and myself that it was well worth delaying our Honeymoon to attend! 2 days of hugely informative conference sessions, networking and some truly amazing after parties have really been a testament to how difficult the organisers have worked to better last years great event. Like many others, I’d meant to post during the conference and give updates about what wa

Safety call on ‘black ribbon of death’
Calls for common sense, rather than a dual carriageway, have been made following safety concerns along the Dukes Highway, labelled recently the “black ribbon of death”. In recent months five people have lost their lives along the highway in four separate incidents. This prompted a call from Coorong Mayor Roger Strother for safety upgrades and from Federal MP Patrick Secker for the introduction of a dual carriageway. However, Tatiara Road Safety Group chairman Peter Cook said a dual carriage

Back On Air G’day Agmates, Well at last we are back on air. The move was horrendous. Thought I had it every sorted so I would not miss a single day publishing. I will be publishing right through Christmas (yes even Christmas day) and New Year if you care to join me. So lets receive started and thanks for you patience. Your Agmate - Steve.

Special Moving Considerations For Pet Owners
If you have pets, they are just as much a part of your family as the people are. You may be getting concerned about how your pets will take the actual move and how they will adjust to their new home. Here are some things you can do to make the moving process as easy as possible for your pets. Once you know you are going to move, take your pets to the veterinarian. You'll want to receive copies of their records and have the vet give them a general checkup. You would hate to find out your pet

and the bride wore pink...
Ali looked beautiful and despite the rain and heavy skies, it was a truly memorable day. My pal Michele did a magnificent job with every of the flowers. The bridal bouquet of roses and peonies was a perfect match with the dress - soft and frilly. The girls wore crowns of camelia leaves and Geraldton wax flowers(Chamelaucium). This photo was taken after we had every been rained on so no perfect hairdo's here! (If only someone had moved that stray leaf....). The bride and groom.

firstly thank you to every the nice people who made me feel much better about 'that' comment....I read it before my first coffee of the morning and was a little startled that someone felt the need to comment to me anonymously about what I write....so you've asked for a few more photos of the home and here are few of the lovely parts of the home .....you wouldn't know that half my wardrobe is still on the floor, we snooze on a matress because the removalists couldn't fit the ensemble up the stairs
